Betty Quelch Award

For excellence in the performance of a Settlement Agency - nominated by AICWA member peers.

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Entry is open to ordinary members who are licensee of a settlement agency or are employed at the agency and are a “conveyancer member”. Law firms who employ an ordinary member or conveyancing member are ineligible.
  • Agency/licensee/member must not have had a Code of Conduct complaint upheld against them over the last 12 months.
  • Must not have had a State Administration Tribunal case upheld against them in the last 12 months.
  • The Agency and the member must be located within Western Australia.
  • Member must address the nomination process as outlined below.
  • The Agency must employ 3 or more staff
  • The member nominee must agree to an in-house (where practical) interview if they are deemed a “finalist”. Interviews can be conducted via teleconference if required.

Essay
This award recognises the agency, therefore, we want to find out more about the agency. We invite you to share insights in a 1000-word maximum essay, that can be informative or humorous, but must be an original work and must display an understanding of the topic and its relevance to the conveyancing industry.

Topics you may wish to focus on:

  • How are they innovative?
  • How does the agency go above and beyond? Share an experience/example with us… how did this involve the team? (situation, action, result).
  • What makes the agency different from other agencies?
  • What do you respect about the agency?
  • How does your agency support its staff and contribute to the profession of conveyancing?

Judging

  • Based on the essay / testimonial
  • Not based on volume of nominations received
  • Blind judging (nominee’s name/agency withheld)
  • Short – list of a maximum of 5

Dorothy Peacock Award

For outstanding contribution by an individual to the Conveyancing Industry in WA - nominated by AICWA member peers.

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Entry is open to ordinary and conveyancing members who are licensed settlement agent.
  • Member must not have had a Code of Conduct complaint upheld against them over the last 12 months.
  • Member must not have had a State Administration Tribunal case upheld against them in the last 12 months.
  • Member must be located within Western Australia.
  • The member or the nominator must address the nomination process as outlined below.

This award recognises an individual who actively contributes to the industry such as imparting their knowledge, being active with the AICWA or contributing to the profession in some way. We want to find out more about the person you are nominating that is why we invite you to share insights in a 1000-word maximum essay, that can be informative or humorous, but must be an original work and must display an understanding of the topic and its relevance to the conveyancing industry.

Topics you must focus on:

  • How does the person contribute to the conveyancing industry? Share an experience/example with us (situation, action, result).
  • What makes them different from other conveyancers?
  • How did they make a difference in your career and the career of others?

Bruce Thurston Award

For outstanding contribution to the Conveyancing Industry in WA, not employed in a Conveyancing role - nominated by AICWA Members.

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Nominee can be an individual or a team
  • Nominee must not have been an ordinary or conveyancing member of the AICWA. Affiliate members are eligible as are non-members.
  • The member nominator must address the nomination process as outlined below.

AICWA Education Award

Student Award, for the most outstanding student as nominated by West Coast Property Training.

Eligibility & Criteria

  • The student must be enrolled or had been enrolled over the past 12 months in the Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing Course.
  • The student must have completed or has the intention of completing the course.

Judging

  • Excellence and high standards across all units of competency (60)
  • Displays a genuine and positive attitude to learning (40)

Valerie Haskins Sole Operator Award

For excellence by a Sole Operator - nominated by AICWA member peers.

  • Entry is open to ordinary members who are the licensee and sole operator of their agency.
  • Member can employ up to 2 staff.
  • Member must not have had a Code of Conduct complaint upheld against them over the last 12 months.
  • Must not have had a State Administration Tribunal case upheld against them in the last 12 months.
  • The Agency/member must be located within Western Australia.
  • Member must address the nomination process as outlined below.
